As an executive and leadership coach, Ellen Waxman helps leaders achieve their professional and personal goals. Ellen’s innovative methods and on-the-ground experience have resulted in a proven track record of creating high performing organizations. With more than two decades of senior leadership and coaching experience, Ellen understands the challenges and opportunities facing leaders today. She provides customized one-on-one coaching designed to help these leaders operate strategically, authentically, and in a manner that achieves results.
Ellen has held a number of senior leadership roles over the last 25 years, including Director of Strategic Planning at Service Ontario and as Chief of Staff to cabinet ministers in three ministries. From 2007 to 2013, she was Assistant Deputy Minister at Accessibility Directorate of Ontario (ADO), where she led the development and implementation of a strategic plan to make Ontario a recognized world leader in accessibility.
Working in government has equipped Ellen with the knowledge of what it takes to be an agent of change in large organizations, moving from policy to implementation.
Ellen is adept at creating high performing work teams, having led ADO from a low performing organization to achieving the top 10 percent of employee engagement scores across the OPS, while meeting all strategic performance objectives. She is an expert in stakeholder engagement and in working successfully with diverse communities to reach strategic objectives.
Ellen is an Adler Certified Professional Coach and member of the International Coaching Federation. Her extensive educational background also includes:
- An Honours B.A. from McGill University
- A Master’s of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto
- Queen’s Executive Development Program
Ellen is a member of several high-profile organizations that aim to give back to her community. Most notably, she has been active as:
- The 2007 to 2013 Executive Sponsor of Ontario Public Service Pride Network
- The co-chair of Toronto International Track and Field Games, Pro-Am Charity Relay
- A member of the Board of Directors, Canadian Paralympic Committee
